Abstract

Intramolecular ring closure and oxidative decarboxylation following lactone ring opening allow urdamycin H (2) to be synthesized from urdamycin C (1) in a nonenzymatic process. This was the result of biosynthetic studies and model reactions on the urdamycin system. (Figure Presented.)
