Abstract

Building on the patient-focused research literature, the authors introduce a graphical approach for couple therapy and research that can be adapted to pencil-and-paper assessments that are readily available. They present the Revised Dyadic Adjustment Scale as an example of a questionnaire that can be used in a patient-focused research methodology with clinical data to illustrate the method. Implications of the method on couple assessment, following the trajectory of treatment, and clinically significant change are also discussed.
