Abstract

VENTSIM is an interactive microcomputer program for analysis of mine ventilation networks. The program comprises two parts. The first part is a menu driven data program which allows the user to input data or edit data files with minimum effort. The second part solves a given ventilation network calculating the air quantities and the corresponding head losses of each airway by using the Hardy-Cross iterative procedure. The program creates a fan directory where different fan types and curves can be stored, as well as a job directory where different case study files can be kept. The output includes a listing of the active airways and nodes of the network, the special constraints set on airways and the solution of the network. (A)
