Augmented Combined Field Integral Equation with Static Extraction

Abstract

It was recently demonstrated that an augmented electric field integral equation with a static extraction (AEFIE-S) can be used to accurately solve multiscale electromagnetic field interaction problems involving perfectly conducting objects that are less than about one-half of a wavelength in size. This presentation reports a similar, augmented combined field formulation, referred to as the ACFIE-S. Unlike the AEFIE-S, the ACFIE-S formulation for scattering from closed structures is free of the false internal resonances that occur in the AEFIE-S for electrically larger objects.
