Abstract

A 20-year-old male presented with oscillopsia, progressive gait disorder, and numbness. Radiologic and operative observation documented the existence of syringobulbia and syringomyelia. Clockwise rotatory nystagmus on leftward gaze and horizontal right nystagmus on rightward gaze were observed. This nystagmus is compatible with the typical intrinsic lesions of syringbulbia and can be differentiated from the Bruns' nystagmus of extrinsic brainstem lesions.
