Abstract

Biphenyldimethylsilyl chloride (BDMS-Cl) and biphenytdiisopropylsilyl chloride (BDIPS-Cl) are readily prepared reagents for the introduction of the BDMS and BDIPS protecting groups onto small terminal alkynes, leading to stable, solid, and easily recrystallizable derivatives of these thermally unstable molecules.
