Abstract

This chapter provides an introduction to research, as well as the “what”, “why”, and “how” of incorporating research into an EAS program. The importance of research in this field and how it relates to epidemiology in general (the study of what happens to the health in a population) is highlighted. A self-assessment is included to help practitioners interested in becoming more involved with EAS research.
