Abstract

Numerical examples to compare the convergence rate for surface integral equation (SIE) and volume-surface integral equation (VSIE) for solving the scattering problems are presented. By calculating the EM scattering from 3D coated structures, both the SIE and VSIE may be applied given that the coating material is piece-wise homogeneous. Based on the examples, the VSIE algorithm has an advantage over the SIE approach when solutions if iterative solvers are used.
