Abstract

The present method of evaluating mine illumination systems is a time-consuming process involving the construction of a mockup, the installation of a proposed lighting system, and an extensive set of illumination measurements. This entire process can be incorporated into a computer analysis utilizing numerical models of mining machinery and measured data on luminaire output characteristics. This paper presents a general description of this method of evaluation.
