Abstract

This article discusses how the Inter-American Development Bank (IDB) Group contributes to the institutionalisation of evaluation in Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC) in two main ways: (i) through its operational work, by supporting the strengthening of statistics and MandE systems in LAC countries, and by evaluating specific development interventions in IDB-financed projects; and (ii) through the activities of its evaluation offices within IDB Group’s management responsible for self-evaluation, and the Office of Evaluation and Oversight (OVE) responsible for independent evaluation of all IDB Group activities. Also discussed is IDB Group’s efforts to further enhance the scope and reach of evaluation capacities in the LAC region.
