Convolutional codes with cyclic structure

Abstract

The impact of cyclicity for convolutional codes was studied. These codes play an important role in the algebraic theory of σ-cyclic submodule (σ-CCC) since each code can be written as a direct sum of minimal codes. The new concept of cyclicity is a sound generalization of cyclicity in the block code. The results show that the class of minimal CCC's contains many 'optimal'convolutional codes.
