Abstract

This paper gives an evaluation of crack opening displacements and stress intensity factors in terms of elementary functions for the problem of a concentrated load outside a circular crack. The results are obtained for both transversely isotropic and purely isotropic cases. A particular case of a concentrated load at a point on the normal axis is discussed and compared with the previous analysis. Some results for stress intensity factors are presented in a graphical form.
