Dependence of normal contact stress on the surface morphology of solid surfaces

Research output: Contribution to journalArticlepeer-review

Abstract

The effect of normal contact stress on the solid surfaces' morphology was investigated. The contact between two solids plays an important role in interpreting the loading-unloading behavior in indentation tests. In regard with it, the applicability of elasticity theory for deriving the relationship between normal stress and surface deformation was discussed.
