Abstract

Knowledge of the transfer function of a microscopical system is of importance for image processing. In this paper three dimensional (3-D) images of spheres from an reflection scanning acoustic microscope are used for the determination of the defocused optical transfer function. The presented technique of microscope characterisation can also be applied to confocal optical scanning microscopes.
