Abstract

A double electrode gas metal arc welding (GMAW) process was proposed, to increase the melting rate while controlling the base metal heat input at a suitable level. The heat imposed on the base metal was reduced from conventional GMAW. It is stated that the heat imposed on the base metal can be maintained at a desired level. Various experiments verified the feasibility of the proposed double electrode GMAW process in decoupling the currents.
