Abstract
Chapter 1 focuses on one of the most global brands in all of sports: the National Basketball Association (NBA). While U.S.-based, the league has experienced rapid growth in other continents, with specific expansion in offerings and interest in China and many parts of Europe. Authors Andrew C. Billings, Oriol Figuera Godoy, Ryan Broussard, and Sitong Guo employ a dual strategy for understanding the practices of the league in the late 2010s: the content advanced within the regular season combined with interviews with the social media content managers within the NBA itself.
