Abstract

The Department of Biosystems and Agricultural Engineering Department at the University of Kentucky was one of the first departments to be reviewed for accreditation under the ABET 2000 guidelines. Last October, the department was reviewed again after six years of trying to 'close the loop'. In order to prepare for our most recent review, the faculty attended a two-day workshop off campus to learn about Continuous Quality Improvement (CQI). Soon thereafter educational objectives and outcomes were revised new metrics were identified to assess progress. In addition, the faculty created and published a new continuous improvement process. Details of the objectives, outcomes, metrics, instruments, and the continuous improvement process, that was implemented are presented in this paper.
