Abstract
After outlining the bases for the use of neuroleptics in the treatment of schizophrenia, the authors describe the main extrapyramidal side-effects, i.e., acute dystonic reactions, akathisia, the typical parkinsonian signs (rigidity, tremor, and akinesia), and tardive dyskinesia. They also suggest some guidelines for the assessment, and mention the mst commonly used rating scales.
