Abstract
To allow us to study the effects of topological frustration on the equilibrium thermodynamics of crystallization, the equation of state for particles interacting with an r-12 potential was estimated by the Monte Carlo method for 120 particles on the surface of a four-dimensional sphere (an unfrustrated case). The transition temperature is found to be nearly twice as high as for the fcc lattice in Euclidean space. This result is interpreted in terms of a recently proposed Landau-Ginsburg model.
