Abstract
The effects of fresh concrete mixture temperature and mixing duration on the compressive strength of concrete are obvious areas of concern. It is the intent of this paper to show how the combined effects of mixture temperature and mixture duration can influence the compressive strength of concrete. Data associated with over 1000 sets of concrete cylinders were collected in the central Kentucky area to formulate a model that would shed some light on this very important subject. Results indicate that the combined effects of fresh concrete temperature and mixing time may be quantified in terms of the strength index parameter. This index may be used to predict adverse effects of less than optimum temperature and time combinations.
