Abstract

The optically forbidden autoionizing levels in Xe from 0.4 to 1 eV ejected electron energy were examined. The plane-wave Born approximation (PWBA) was used to obtain order of magnitude of various multipole contributions of autoionization spectrum. Addition and substraction techniques enabled to draw tentative conclusions in the electron impact excitation of Xe. The energy scale calibration and peak maximum uncertainities results in the uncertainity in positions. The energy resolution and quantum defect theory calculations were also used to calculate the peak positions in square brackets.
