Abstract

An increased rigidity of erythrocyte membranes in four-week old dystrophic chickens compared to closely related normal controls has been suggested using electron spin resonance. These findings suggest that similar to the case of human Duchenne muscular dystrophy, chicken muscular dystrophy may be associated with a generalized membrane defect.
