Abstract

This paper presents a new method for predicting the chip breakability on the basis of a fuzzy mathematical model. A knowledge-pool based on extensive experimental work, with varying tool inserts, tool geometries, cutting conditions and work materials, has been set up. An artificial intelligence approach with Turbo PROLOG language is used in the present work to establish the expert system for chip control from this knowledge base.
