Abstract
In flexible manufacturing systems, frequent changes in parts being produced require frequent modifications in machine sequencing. Rather than repeatedly remodeling the system for each change in operation, instead, we model only the unsequenced dynamics as a controlled Petri net (CtlPN). In this paper, we present a method for synthesizing a feedback control policy such that the controlled system operation satisfies a set of sequencing specifications. As specifications change, the policy can be reformulated without modifying the net model. The method is illustrated with a robotic assembly example.
