Abstract

This paper presents the recent field applications of Fiber Reinforced Polymer (FRP) composites in bridges in Kentucky. These include the use of: (1) FRP structural components in the Clear Creek and the swinging pedestrian bridges, (2) Glass FRP bars in the Rogers Creek bridge deck, (3) carbon FRP bars in the Clark County bridge deck, (4) carbon FRP fabric to strengthen prestressed concrete box beams in shear, (5) carbon FRP laminates/strips to increase the flexural capacity of a reinforced concrete girder bridge, and (6) carbon FRP fabric to strengthen the cracked ends of prestressed concrete l-girders.
