N2 - This paper presents a new methodology developed for predicting the chip breakability levels achievable in machining operations. This method is based on a fuzzy classification technique involving neighboring cluster groups. The newly developed chip control diagrams with classified regions are suitable for use in computer-aided process planning systems facilitating intelligent machining.
