She is the study director for two National Institutes of Health (NIH) funded projects, one examining the health service utilization of incarcerated male and female substance abusers and the other investigating Drug Court retention through the implementation of an enhanced employment intervention component. Ms. Staton has published in the area of substance abuse and HIV risk behavior among adolescents. Her research interests include ‘‘substance abuse,’’ prison-based treatment, health service utilization, rural treatment access, and spirituality.
