Abstract

We use the gπNN form factor obtained from the Skyrme model in the Chou-Yang eikonal formalism to study the high energy elastic scattering of nucleons in the low-t-region. We found that in the region of t<0.3 (GeV/c)2, the calculated ( dσ dt)s exhibits a "kinking upward" behavior relative to (( dσ dt)E calculated with the proton electric form factor, which agrees with the experiments. For t>0.3 (GeV/c)2, the calculated (( dσ dt)s yield dips too low in t compared to experiments. This may be attributable to the lack of heavy mesons in the present Skyrme model we used.
