Abstract

Measurements were performed on the pressure dependence of the superconducting transition temperature T//c of the stage-1 graphite intercalation compounds RbC//8 and CsC//8 as a function of hydrostatic pressure P APP 1STH 2. 2 GPa. RbC//8 is nonsuperconducting to temperatures T greater than equivalent to 0. 07 K at P equals 0 and to T greater than equivalent to 1. 3 K for P less than equivalent to 2. 2 GPa. However, T//c's APP GRTH 0. 25 K were detected at P less than 0. 09 GPa. A superconducting transition was also found for CsC//8 at P equals 0 with an onset temperature T//o approximately equals 0. 09 K.
