Abstract

Developments of logistics and procedures for the distribution of radioactivity by dierent investigators have led to several differing techniques, which are known as systems or schools. A brachytherapy dosimetric system consists of a set of rules for the arrangement of a specic set of radioactive sources in order to deliver a prescribed dose to a designated point or volume of interest. e most commonly used brachytherapy systems for intracavitary and interstitial brachytherapy procedures are described in the next sections.
