Abstract

It is argued that the fast β^- decay of ¹⁹⁰Re involves the allowed unhindered transition 9 2^-[505]ν- 5 2⁺[402]π JK^π = 22^- → 11 2^-[505]π- 5 2⁺[402]π JK^π = 33^- in accord with a recent microscopic description of K^π = 3^- octupole excitations in the osmium region.
