Abstract

Impression tests and their recent applications to viscosity measurements, stress relaxation, impression recovery and impression fatigue are reviewed briefly. Impression creep of a thin single crystal controlled by bulk diffusion with a permeable or an impermeable substrate and impression creep of a half space by interface diffusion, power law and hyperbolic sine law creep and Newtonian viscous flow are discussed in some detail.
