Abstract

The relevance of quark degrees of freedom in intermediate-energy nuclear structure is discussed. Besides the appearance of mesons and isobars, there may also appear dinucleon "color resonances" of six quarks each. The inelastic production of these "bag" states by electron and proton scattering from deuterons is suggested as one way of studying them. Formulas are given for the form factors or cross sections of these inelastic processes. The calculated results suggest that the size and rough composition of these dinucleon bag resonances can be deduced under favorable circumstances. NUCLEAR REACTIONS Calculated inelastic ed form factors and pd cross sections for dinucleon bag productions.
