Abstract
This paper describes our ongoing efforts to develop a knowledge-based system to support planning and scheduling of semiconductor testing operations. Specifically, we present a howledge-based scheduling mechanism which is one component of the overall system still under development. We present a knowledge-based heuristic scheduling method and our computational experience with this method on well-known job shop scheduling problems. The scheduling mechanism has been implemented on a Sun Sparc station 1+ using the programming language Common Lisp.
