Abstract

This paper contains a description of four experiments which demonstrate the fundamental principles of variable structure control (VSC). Any or all of these investigations can be readily repeated in a senior/graduate level controls laboratory course which utilizes analog computers and microprocessors. A brief review of the theory of VSC is also enclosed.
