Abstract
By using the finite element code ABAQUS for large deformation, the behavior of a thin disk clamped at the circumference and loaded at the center by a rigid flat-end cylindrical punch was studied. The contact between the punch and the disk is assumed frictionless. The load/displacement relation is compared with analytical results for a point load and they seem to differ by a constant factor for large deformation. This factor depends on the size of the punch and the internal stress in the disk.
