Abstract

The source impedance of an engine intake system was determined using two indirect methods. Both the two-load method and a least squares multi-load method were used and the results were comparable. The acoustic load was varied by using different lengths of pipe affixed to the intake. The measured source impedance was subsequently used to predict the insertion loss with a muffler attached.
