Abstract

The use of membranes in water reuse from material developments to applications was discussed. The treatment of secondary effluent with four different low operating pressure reverse-osmosis (RO) membranes, including TFCL, showed that TFCL membrane was the most suitable membrane for treatment of secondary effluent. An innovative in situ synthesis method of functionalizing microfiltration membranes with reactive bimetallic nanoparticles for dechlorination of TCE and PCB compounds was also described. Novel membrane materials found to improve membrane performance in the case of textile auxiliary wastes and effects of various parameters on membrane material selection were also elaborated.
