Abstract

We present a new algorithm for tracking moving targets in compressed video. The algorithm exploits the fact that most digital video produced from sensors is compressed when it is archived or sent across a (wireless) network link; our tracking technique obtains savings in space and time by making tracking measurements directly in the compressed video stream, avoiding video decompression.
