Abstract

The first base-stabilized phosphino- and arsinoalane monomers, H2AlEMes2·NMe3 (Mes = mesityl; 1, E = P; 2, E = As) have been prepared. Thermolysis at 95°C converts 1 to the trimer [H2AlPMes2]3 (3); further heating at 125 °C results in the formation of Mes2pH and aluminum metal.
