Abstract

As a result of increased competition from the public sector, social workers in private practice need to give greater thought to marketing their services. Prior to the development of a marketing plan, private practitioners should have a general understanding of what communities know about mental health resources. This paper reviews the literature on publicity and community awareness of mental health resources. Recommendations are made regarding ways to increase visibility.
