Abstract

High purity U//6Fe polycrystals with a resistance ratio rrr equals 9 at T equals 4 K are found to exhibit a record onset temperature (T//0 greater than 4. 0 K) to superconductivity for U materials. Our measured values of the electronic coefficient of heat capacity gamma *** equals (150 plus or minus 3) mJ/mol multiplied by (times) K**2, the mean Deby temperature THETA (T yields O) equals 116 K and the normalized jump in heat capacity at T//c, TRIAN OP C/ gamma ***T//c equals 2. 3 plus or minus 0. 1, are all in good agreement with previous work, and suggest that U//6Fe is a strong-coupled superconductor.
