Abstract

The authors propose new types of observers for dynamical systems subjected to bounded nonlinearities or uncertainties. The design of these observers utilizes techniques related to variable structure theory. A measure for the rate at which the estimates converge to the actual states is derived. Simulation results exhibiting the performance of these observers are included.
