Abstract
Transmission line parameters include series impedance, series resistance, and shunt susceptance. Those parameters are required by various power system applications. This paper focuses on estimating line parameters for the series compensated line, where one or more compensators are installed along the line instead of at the terminals of the line. Linear methods and optimal estimators with bad data detection capability are proposed for two different situations, including the known parameter of series compensators and the known current through series compensators. The proposed methods are implemented in Matlab environment and evaluated based on simulated data generated using Simpowersystems.
