Abstract

This paper presents an optimized robust adaptive flux and torque estimator for torque vector controlled reluctance motor drive. Unlike the existing techniques which are effective only in steady-state, the estimator developed here can work property during transient and steady-stale, for quickly, slowly, or constantly varying machine parameters. The effectiveness of this flux and torque estimator stems from the idea of reducing the uncertainties of the machine parameter to increase the estimation accuracy because parameter detunings are the main causes for the estimation fault. Detailed estimation error analysis are studied to investigate the nature of the problem. Based on those analysis, the estimation algorithm is robustized and optimized. Extensive digital simulation results show excellent performance of this estimator for both transient and steady-state conditions.
