Abstract

A computer program which is 'user friendly' has been developed to estimate the packing of whole grains in storage bins. This program utilizes the differential form of Janssen's equation to predict the variation in bulk density of the stored material. Utilizing this information, the packing factor for six different whole grains can be estimated as a function of the moisture content and test weight of the stored material for bins of any height and diameter.
