Abstract

A computer oriented 'exact' method of solution is presented for the bending problem of rectangular plates. The method is entitled 'The Analytical Strip Solution' and, unlike the previous 'exact' methods (Navier's and Levy's), the technique is applicable to rectangular plates having all possible combinations of simply supported and clamped boundary conditions along two opposite edges, while the other edges could have any combination of simply supported, clamped and free boundary conditions.
