Abstract
The level structure of 208Pb has been investigated with the (n,n′γ) reaction with accelerator-produced neutrons. Prom γ-ray excitation function measurements and γ-γ coincidences, the decay scheme was established. Level properties were elucidated with lifetimes determined by the Doppler-shift attenuation method and multipole mixing ratios determinations from γ-ray angular distributions. Several new levels below 6 MeV have been established, and many questionable placements have been confirmed or eliminated.
