Abstract

The objective of this study was to test an active charge-passive discharge rock heat storage system to determine the location of heat stored in the rockbed and the timing of the heat discharge by conduction through the concrete floor. Test data on heated air charging of a horizontal rock heat storage under a concrete floor and the passive dissipation of heat from the heat storage is presented. The velocity of a heat wave in the rockbed was less than predicted from previous work.
