Abstract

The paper describes aspects of product design optimization and manufacturing technology development for PM brushless motor drives specific to industrial applications. Low speed direct drive motors with high specific torque have been built using a high polarity flux concentrating rotor design with radial ferrites. High efficiency and/or reduced size synchronous motors, rated at 1500rpm and higher, have been built using NdFeB magnets.
